About HIU Athletics
HIU offers varsity programs that compete at the intercollegiate level as well as a variety of club and intramural sports, academic circles and leisure activities. At the intercollegiate level, HIU is currently highly ranked in sports such as baseball, basketball, boxing, cross-country, soccer, track and field and weightlifting. Traditional martial arts include aikido, kendo and judo. In addition to HIU’s outstanding competitive athletic record, teams are involved in international friendly exhibition matches, such as the baseball team’s exchange with universities in Taiwan. HIU anticipates more championships during the 2008-09 season.
About HIU Facilities
HIU has state of the art facilities and top professional athletic coaches and trainers. Facilities include the newly opened soccer field as well as the recently completed baseball stadium, an indoor batting and pitching practice range. HIU runners enjoy an all weather track and a cross-country course circling the beautiful greens and gardens around campus. Also, judo, kendo and boxing club members can enhance their training at their specially designed practice and performance facilities on campus.
HIU athletic trainers are available to offer professional support and advice. All students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to inquire.
About HIU Academic Clubs and Leisure Activities
In addition to the reputable competitive sports programs, HIU invites students to join or initiate an academic circle or social club. The HIU Law Club is active in researching current events, drawing audiences to see them in action at a mock trial in the university courtroom. In addition, the HIU concert band is currently active in joint performances with other universities in the Saitama and Tokyo region. An English club started this academic year, while other clubs such as the snowboarding club, table tennis club, the environmental club as well as the cheerleading squad are busy preparing for annual events and tournaments.
